The Musical Island Boys are an a capella quartet, who combine four-part harmonic excellence with the class and elegance of their Pacific roots, delivering high-energy performances to audiences worldwide. Their talent for entertaining and inspiring internationally with their soaring harmony is backed by a rock solid foundation of over 40 years of combined, real-world experience as International performers.
The quartet has received countless National and International Barbershop awards, and are three-time National Barbershop Quartet champions, smashing NZ record books each time they have competed. The boys won Gold at the 2004 Pan Pacific Competition, and in 2006 made history, securing World Championship U25 Gold in Indianapolis, being the first quartet from outside of the United States to capture the prestigious trophy.
Their most recent accolades include a 4th place Bronze medal at the International Barbershop Open Competition in Philadelphia 2010, being the first barbershop quartet from outside of Europe and the USA to receive such a prestigious award.
Last year in 2011, they made history again, placing 2nd in the International Open Barbershop Quartet Championships, and a place in the history books as the first Affiliate quartet ever to be awarded Silver medals at the highest level.
The quartet continues to deliver dazzling performances of vocal range and skill, entertaining both young and old with their dynamic polyphony and immaculate delivery of the craft. International barbershop audiences as far reaching as Sweden, Holland, Korea, Japan, Australia, and throughout the world have enjoyed the rich tapestry of sound created by the quartet.
